Virtual Retreat

About the event

BRIDGES MISSION: To provide peer support and guidance for women transitioning from military service to civilian life by women Veterans who have previously walked a similar path of service and transition.

BRIDGES is an expansion of the Women Veterans Network (WoVeN), an established, national, social support network designed to enhance the well-being of United States women Veterans and to address the unique challenges of this quickly growing population.

The BRIDGES Program

Virtual retreats

Women Service members who plan to separate from service within the next year are invited to attend a virtual retreat facilitated by Women Veterans who were hand selected and trained to act as BRIDGES Guides.

The goal of the retreat is to encourage women Service members to:

1.) consider their dreams and goals for life after service,

2.) identify personal strengths, existing supports, and resources that will help them achieve these goals, and

3.) identify barriers and challenges that may prohibit success.

The BRIDGES Retreat curriculum is modeled after the successful WoVeN core curriculum.

Ongoing Peer Support

Following the retreat, service members will be paired with an experienced and trained Veteran Guide (a WoVeN member). This model of support ensures continuity of connection across the transition period throughout reintegration into civilian life. Support will consist of semi-structured but flexible contact, peer support, guidance, and friendship during this difficult transition period.

Membership in the National WoVeN Community

After separation from service, women Veterans who attended the BRIDGES program are invited to join WoVeN and enjoy the benefits of sisterhood within this strong and vibrant community of women who have walked a similar path. Members of WoVeN have streamlined access to a growing and evolving network of over 100 vetted public and private Veteran service organizations that provide additional support and resources to women Veterans.
